Trekking to hidden trails of Ba Be Lake National Park Tour – 3 Days/2 Nights: Ba Be National Park is an abundant bio-reserve area containing the world’s only fresh-water karst lake and several rare species of fauna and flora. The bio-diverse 10,048 ha park – home to 1,268 species of flora and fauna, a series of caves and a gigantic fresh water lake – was established in 1992 by the Vietnamese Government to preserve forest ecosystems in the north-east of Vietnam.
The Highlights
The signature hike of Ba Be National Park threads its way along the spine of the Pia Boc range, traversing passes, alpine lakes, with intimate glimpses of those iconic craggy summits.You will enjoy boating on the river, hiking through forest, staying with two different ethnic families, cooking traditional food, see a school in action, trekking in the mountains and kayaking in the Lake. It is certainly an action packed trip getting up close to the locals.
Day 1: Hanoi - River trails - Dao villages.
Day 2: Trekking to remote villages - home-stay.
Day 3: Kayaking on the lake - Hanoi.
Day 1: 7-10 km hike and 3 hours boat trip.
Day 2: 18-20 km trek.
Day 3: 1-3 hours kayak.
The tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi for transfer to Ba Be national park. The journey in a comfortable car is around 6 hours passing through Thai Nguyen city by Highway3. Lunch will be set up at a local restaurant before leaving the car at the trail Start—the Nang river trail head—then floating to tunnel cave in the Dao ethnic Village. We then Start the hike, crossing rain forest looking for wildlife and hiking to the summit of Taken for panoramic views. We then visit Hmong villages before we reach a Dao ethnic village. You are Invited to join the host preparing the traditional food which will be cooked on an open-fire, enjoy some local corn wine with your meal.
Overnight in Dao house.
We will have a traditional breakfast which may comprise of noodles, pancakes or omelet and bananas and should be considered a big meal in this remote area of Ba Be National Park. Leaving the Dzao village, it is a 10km hike to a H'mong Village where we may meet the children at the school there (Often we will take some sweets, pens and notebooks as it is great to be able to give them a small gift). We then find somewhere for a basic but tasty picnic lunch that we have brought with us. The last 10 km to Coc Toc village is undulating and a little bit of a work out, crossing the Coc Toc stream where the villagers make a living by fishing on Ba Be lake. In the hot days here, it is great to jump into the lake to cool off and take the chance to relax a little in the water. That evening you will enjoy a superb dinner on the river terrace enjoying the superb hospitality of Ba Be Lake View family, who are specialists in cooking up local dishes.
Overnight in home stay.
A breakfast of pancakes and Vietnamese coffee will be served on the open-air balcony taking in stunning views. We then paddle our kayaks to discover Ba Be Lake in the morning before saying goodbye to this little paradise. We travel by car, following the river south and then snaking from pass to pass through the hills of Central North Vietnam. You may find the locals are fascinated by you for few tourists ever go that particular and spectacular way. We then join the main road to Hanoi, with a short stop for lunch and will arrive at Hanoi before dark. End of service.
